After a career in business (CEO/CFO in Hi-Tech and Hi-Tech distribution) I decided, 3 years ago, to obtain a Cambridge CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults). I now enjoy my new activity teaching English in businesses in and around Paris where I have lived for the last 35 years.
My students are from all levels of the company hierarchy who have a need to speak English, from reception staff, technical staff, sales support staff … up to senior management. Their knowledge of English varies from near beginners to fluent speakers. My lessons are normally individual and I aim to make them both interesting and useful for my students. My prior career allows me to draw on experience of writing plans and presentations, training staff, adapting knowledge to business needs, giving presentations and public speaking. This background gives me an advantage over many teachers particularly for students who have major customer (or other external) facing needs.
The language teaching regularly runs into the need to help students draft documents for both internal and external use.
I am available for on-line sessions or (when the current sanitary crisis permits) for work on client company premises.
